Madeira Islands Open Moves to Porto Santo
Add to my brochure   Porto Santo Golf
The 2009 edition of the "Madeira Islands Open" will have a new home at the Severiano Ballesteros-designed Porto Santo Golfe. Built on a unique site on the island of Porto Santo, Porto Santo Golfe is a stunning piece of golf course architecture that stretches up and through the island's cliffs.
Porto Santo Island itself is part of the Portuguese archipelago that includes the island of Madeira.

The "Madeira Islands Open" will be staged for the 16th year in 2009, with Porto Santo Golfe becoming the second venue to host the event following the "Santo da Serra Golf Club" (1993-2007).

This year’s prize money is EUR 700.000.

The "Madeira Island Golf Open" is on the European calendar and every year attracts the best players to fight for victory hole by hole. There will be 144 participants from the PGA European Tour in 2009.

According to the regulations, the last two days of each tournament are played only by the 70 best contestants from the first two days.
