The Regional Secretariat of Tourism and Transport has paid tribute to Swedish tourist Kjell Bergtsson because he has visited the Madeira Islands on holiday more than 50 times.
This is something that is happening more and more often nowadays, but is always worth mentioning, because it shows that tourists are pleased with the Madeira Islands. This is an important factor for promoting the Madeira Islands as a holiday destination
Having visited the Madeira Islands 52 times since his first trip here in 1977, Kjell says that he enjoys the pleasant climate and the natural beauty of the archipelago, and that the people are very welcoming. He likes to stroll along the paths to explore the interior of the islands, and he greatly approves the fact that several streets in Funchal have been closed to vehicles, especially Avenida Arriaga, where there is now a lot less traffic.
Levadas are water courses running round the mountains and were built by the first settlers to carry water to inaccessible farmland. Today they are one of Madeira’s greatest tourist attractions.(more)
